Fly.io ❤️ Kamal — Sam Ruby is researching changes for the Rails 8 Agile Web Development with Rails book and the forthcoming updates to Kamal and other deployment improvements are high on his list.

Running Rails on AWS Elastic Beanstalk — I hadn’t heard about Elastic Beanstalk in a Ruby context for years, but it was one of the first automated ways to spin up a webapp in the cloud directly from a repo. If you're on AWS, it still works well, and Josh goes through every step here.

Changing the IRB Autocomplete Colors with Reline::Face — The release of autocomplete for IRB was marred, for some, by not looking too hot with their terminal's color scheme (leading some folks to tweak their color settings). But now there's a way to change the styling to something you prefer by adding a few lines to .irbrc instead.

The Plan for Rails 8 — There’s been a fair amount of buzz around the Rails 8 feature announcements, such as less of a need for Redis, no more Sprockets, Rack 3 support, and more progressive web app features (like push notifications). Exciting stuff.

📕  Programming Ruby 3.3 (5th Edition) Now in Print — Affectionately known as the Pickaxe due to its cover image, Programming Ruby is a book that, in its early editions, certainly helped launch the career of many a Rubyist. It’s back, focused on Ruby 3.3, and has a new lead author, Noel Rappin.
