Our vision is to make plastic-free shopping as easy, convenient and affordable as going to the supermarket. That’s why we are launching a brand new refill shop on wheels - operating from an old electric milk float.
We have a new COVID-19 procedure to limit contact:
Discuss with neighbours when is good for a visit
Book a slot via the BOOK US! page and jot down door numbers of those needing a refill
Leave your containers on your doorstep
labelled if necessary, to be TOPPED UP
Pay by contactless at your door or we will send you a payment link if you aren't in
This is the badger. An old electric milk float from 2000, he's been around the block a few times! We like things that have been used before as we all need to be more resourceful!
We are now taking bookings in E5, E8, N16 and E9!
Get in touch the day before to find out if we will be near enough to tack you onto an existing booking. We will also be posting locations on our Instagram stories where appropriate!
Round up your neighbours and book a slot!
We would love to come to your school, office, place of worship, event or wherever. For special events or requests, email or otherwise use our booking system below!
From laundry liquid to vegan pick 'n' mix, our range has been specially selected to help you convert your pantry from plastic hell to minimal sustainable perfection.
We make every effort to source the most ethical products. Most of our food products are Organic, Vegan and produced or made in Europe. We have a number of small Hackney based suppliers as we love to source locally and support fellow independent businesses, as well as sourcing products from ethical wholesalers. All of our household cleaning and personal care products are free from SLS and parabens, and are vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the UK.
We have partnered up with Re:Store in Hackney Down Studios.
Re:Store is a refill shop that opened in Hackney Downs Studios in February 2019, aiming to reduce the use of unnecessary packaging and plastic. Customers bring their own containers (this can be anything from jam jars to sandwich bags, to old plastic takeaway containers) to refill with a wide range of store cupboard and household essentials and just pay by weight!
Owner Megan opened the shop after recognising a need for more conscious shopping, and being inspired by the small number of zero waste shops that were open at the time in London.
The main aim is to reduce the use of plastic and packaging to reduce our overall impact on the planet, whilst also working to create a strong sense of community by hosting events and sharing information, and being inclusive and accessible with pricing.
We had been thinking for some time about how to make it easier for people to do their shopping without horrendous amounts of plastic. Whilst Hackney isn't short of fabulous plastic free-shops, sometimes you don't want to go out of your way.
So TOPUP TRUCK was born in order to get between you and your Tesco Express, so you can stumble out onto the street with your pyjamas on, bleary eyed, jars in hand, and TOPUP your larder with minimal fuss.
We hope to make grocery shopping more convenient, more environmentally-friendly and more social.
We are in trial phase - watch this space!
